One of my first programs
Printout of one of my first Pascal programs from high school. We worked on on beige terminals connected to a DEC machine that booted from a stack of punch cards. I wish I knew the model! Working in that lab felt like wizardry - arcane alchemy. Many of us had 386s at home so the work we did in that CS class was like experiential history study. Computer Science meets Plimoth Plantation. Once a program started the linking and compiling process, the student had studyhall for the remainder of the period. We learned to be lexically precise. There is little more frustrating than waiting 30 minutes to discover that you missed a semi-colon in line 3.
